Adult Book Club

Thursday, December 14, 2023
10:30AM - 11:30AM

Welcome to the enriching world of the Jewish Adult Book Club, where literature becomes a vibrant tapestry woven with cultural nuances, compelling narratives, and thought-provoking themes. As we embark on the literary journey through March and April of 2024, our book club is set to explore two captivating novels: “The Wind Knows My Name” in March and “Kantika” in April. These novels promise to ignite conversations, spark introspection, and deepen our understanding of the diverse Jewish experience.

March 25 - The Wind Knows My Name
The Wind Knows my Name by Isabel Allende: A stunning historical fiction novel that balances the story of a Holocaust survivor with a modern El Salvadoran immigrant child. Our discussion will touch on historical and modern issues of immigration, what it takes to make a family, and whether or not it is too soon to read about COVID lockdown.

June 3 - Kantika
Kantika by Elizabeth Graver: A Sephardic historical fiction that follows Rebecca Cohen and her family throughout the early 20th century. This book has a bit of everything – Sephardic culture, immigration, divorce, remarriage, international travels, children, complex family dynamics, and more.
